Mount Yaven Alpaca Stud was established in 1999. The property operated as a woolgrowing and forestry property previously carrying up to 1,000 merino wethers and supplying various timber products. We recognized the environmental and management advantages of alpacas and with our background interest in animal breeding helped us make the decision to invest in the industry and help build a future for alpacas in Australia. We are members of the Australian Alpaca Association and sell fleece to the Australian Alpaca Fleece Ltd. We are located in the Southern NSW Region of the Australian Alpaca Association. |

We are growing our alpaca enterprise using some of Australia’s best stud males. Our herd is making huge improvements in terms of fleece quality, fineness and density. To realise our breeding aim of producing fine, dense and well conformed stud stock we have used genetics from Accoyo, Purrumbete and Peruvian bloodlines. |

The enterprise partners have formal qualifications in agricultural science and have been involved in agriculture throughout their careers. Gary and Louise have experience in wool classing, stud cattle breeding, farm vegetation establishment and agricultural biosecurity. We are happy to assist new entrants to this promising industry. We provide flock protecting wethers to sheep graziers and have a limited number of stud stock for sale. |
