Our native tree and shrub seed collection enterprise was established in 1988. Clients include farmers, landcare/community groups, mining companies, seed distributors, Greening Australia, nurseries and government agencies such as CSIRO and NPWS. We have assisted these landholders and other clients with on-farm vegetation planning, native Australian seed collection/supply and large-scale farm native vegetation establishment.

Our goals are achieved by encouraging the use of local tree and shrub species and by providing quality native seed from genetically sound provenances for use in vegetation projects. We provide useful advice and seed services based on your specific needs and your land’s capability, and contribute to a successful and sustainable native vegetation project on your farm.

First year

While we recognise there are circumstances where individual tree planting is the appropriate method of tree establishment, we are strong advocates for collecting seed specifically for your farm/district and using selected and available species for direct seeding. There are substantial cost benefits of direct seeding over planting. The end result is more environmentally robust and has superior ecological qualities thereby contributing directly to farm income and land-use sustainability in a relatively short period of time.

Third year. Note direct seeded plants have overtaken planted trees

We encourage you to contact us to help with your project. An initial farm visit based on a full day including on/off-farm work and travel (up to 200 kms round trip from Mt Yaven) will cost $375 (includes GST). We will discuss your objectives, inspect the sites, inspect the seed crop and determine availability, identify species and take samples. You will be provided with tailored suggestions and advice, a species list, a plan and report and seed quote priced on a kilogram basis. The information gathered will be the basis of our seed collection work or if so chosen by you, adequate basis for you to collect your own seed and direct seed your own sites.
